This is How You Lose Her – Junot Diaz

…because you know in your lying cheater’s heart that sometimes a start is all we ever get.

-Junot Diaz, The Cheater’s Guide To Love, This is How You Lose Her

You are sitting in a pub with a friend. It’s noisy, some obscure pop music is playing in the background and the place is washed with yellow ambient lighting. You both had significant amount of beer in you. Your friend starts telling you stories about his innumerable heartbreaks and his dysfunctional family. Stories that are resplendent with the colors of the language you both speak: cuss words, swear words, the whole works.

Get that feeling? That. That right there is what is feels like reading Junot Diaz’s This is How You Lose Her.

Note: This book is not an antidote to heartbreaks, breakups, being dumped, divorced, or losing someone you have been habituated to. Neither is it a manual to avoid the aforementioned situations.
